DREAM MACHINES OF THE FLOWER POWER
19 APRIL - 10 MAY
Colorful patterns, wide legs, braids, mini skirts, sandals, hotpants and round glasses. Who can't remember the sixties? The power of the flower changed the society. Culture became counterculture and - just as today - youngsters raised their voices.
It all began with the Beat-generation with Allen Ginsberg in San Francisco. Together with Allen we search for 'the starry dynamo in the machinery of night’. In our imagination we let 'A Hundred Flowers bloom' , commemorate the Carnation Revolution with fado music, poke our ears with the ‘flower song’ by rapper Hugo and see through the eyes of artist Gabriella Ciancimino the thistels and other stubborns.
Met with and contributions of Ben Benaouisse, Gabriella Ciancimino, Allen Ginsberg, Rapper Hugo, Gie Knaeps, Michaël Vandebril, e.a.
Opening: Sunday April 19th.
Open every Friday, Saturday & Sunday until May 10th, between 2 and 5 pm.
WARP, Apostelstraat 20, Sint-Niklaas
